A Configuration Adjustment time in seconds that is added to a boat’s base ratings (Area and Regional) to account for cruising type equipment that the boat carries while racing. Appendix F of the PHRF Socal Rules describes the cruising equipment that qualifies, and the time in seconds allotted for that equipment.
We have moved to an entirely Corinthian-based system that relies on boat owners supplying honest information about the cruising equipment they race with. There are limits to the adjustment (seconds) a boat can receive, and these are outlined in Appendix F. If you meet the criteria, you will get some time bonus. There are no hearings or reviews, and the time bonus is applied immediately to your ratings.
Other boat owners are free to protest your rating and configuration adjustments if they believe that your boat does not race with the stated cruising equipment.
Configuration adjustments last for the calendar year. You need to re-apply for them each year.
